Better Together

BETTER TOGETHER
Chris Simpson / Sarah Simpson / Maia Sharp
Sometimes I’m a bomb ready to go off
You know how to diffuse
Baby, there are days I wouldn’t want to walk
A mile in your shoes
But I try to
I try to
And you’d lose your head if it wasn’t hooked on
But I know how to find it
When you’ve had one too many O’Connor’s
I don’t really mind it
It doesn’t change what’s true
It couldn’t change what’s true
Like a song on the radio, needs a dial to tune it in
Like an anchor needs a chain, a grenade needs a pin
A lock and a key, a bird and a tree, as sure as these things are forever
We’re better together, we’re better together
You calling from the other side of the world
Lonesome Standard Time
There’s selfless sacrifice on both ends of the line
I love you
I love you
Like a song on the radio, needs a dial to tune it in
Like an anchor needs a chain, a grenade needs a pin
A lock and a key, a bird and a tree, as sure as these things are forever
We’re better together, we’re better together
Like a song on the radio, needs a dial to tune it in
Like an anchor needs a chain, a grenade needs a pin
A lock and a key, a bird and a tree, baby, always and forever
We’re better together, we’re better together
Oh we’re better together

FLY
Tanos Chavez / Angie Chavez / Darden Smith
You’re looking at a man whose an empty shell
I went running and gunning to the bottom of hell and back
All muscle and bone no time for a heart
That shell kept me safe but now it’s starting to crack
No connection, connection, connection
No direction, direction, direction
I want fly free
Would you fly with me
Yeah when I was kid I had a dream
It was get out of town go out and see the world
Well I saw it alright, but it was dark as night
Caused a whole lot of pain, broke something inside of me girl
Now I’m falling, falling, falling
Can’t you hear me calling, calling, calling
I want to fly free
Would you fly with me
Yeah I want to fly free
Out beyond the pain
Out beyond the lonely
Out into the new
Where it’s just you and me only
I want fly free
Would you fly with me
Oh I want to fly free
Would you fly with me

GRATEFUL
Tanos Chavez / Angie Chavez / Tom Gonzalez / Eva Gonzalez / Charlie Hodge / Ashley Hodge // Brian Oberley / Kaitlyn Oberley / Buck Rogers / Wendy Rogers / Chris Simpson / Sarah Simpson / Darden Smith / James House / Maia Sharp
Too many rocks in the rucksack
Too many calls on the line
Finally realized that burden
Didn’t have to be all mine
It’s okay to look back just don’t stare
It took a lot of long walks to get me here
Grateful that I made it home
Grateful that I am not alone
Grateful I’m not sinking like a stone
Grateful to hear you breathing next to me
Grateful we have everything we need
Grateful just to be
Grateful, grateful
We are all full of butterflies
First kiss all over again
Don’t know whether to laugh or cry
Cause I miss my best friend
It’s okay to be nervous, a little awkward and shy
It all goes away when I look you in the eye
Grateful that I made it home
Grateful that I am not alone
Grateful I’m not sinking like a stone
Grateful to hear you breathing next to me
Grateful we have everything we need
Grateful just to be
Grateful, grateful
I get tunnel vision
When I finally see your face
Through all the commotion
I feel amazing grace
Grateful that you made it home
Grateful that I am not alone
Grateful that I’m not sinking like a stone
Grateful to hear you breathing next to me
Grateful we have everything we need
Grateful just to be
Grateful, grateful, grateful, grateful
Grateful, I can fall back into place
Grateful, I can finally feel safe
Grateful, grateful

Hell of a Honeymoon

HELL OF A HONEYMOON
Tom Gonzalez / Eva Gonzalez / Maia Sharp
Married at the courthouse in New Mexico
Then straight to Kansas then San Antonio
Afghanistan to Saudi to Colorado
Sometimes in the middle of the night
He’d just be gone
And every time he came back like a stranger walking in
They’d get to know each other and he’s leaving again
The next time she saw him he would not be who he’d been
But she’d make it alright
And soldier on
On 30 minute notice, no time to themselves
She felt like a mistress waiting on the shelf
When you take off the armor 24 years later
You pray you still love what you see
When you wash away the danger, the lonely and the anger
Welcome to the rediscovery
Does it end or do the bride and groom
Finally get that honeymoon
All the other titles they wore around for years
The soldier, the teacher, the mandatory volunteer
Now the husband and the wife is the only call they hear
It’s like the desert after a rain
And the drought was not in vain
When you take off the armor 24 years later
You pray you still love what you see
When you wash away the danger, the lonely and the anger
Welcome to the rediscovery
Does it end or do the bride and groom
Finally get that honeymoon
Paris, Madrid, Rome, Antigua, London, Hawaii, Cancun
It’s a hell of a honeymoon
It’s a hell of a honeymoon
They went through hell for the honeymoon

I Like My Job

I LIKE MY JOB
Tanos Chavez / Angie Chavez / Tom Gonzalez / Eva Gonzalez / Charlie Hodge / Ashley Hodge / Brian Oberley / Kaitlyn Oberley / Buck Rogers / Wendy Rogers / Chris Simpson / Sarah Simpson Darden Smith
I’ve been working to hard
I get no time off
But that’s ok
Because I like my job
I’m beat, I’m tired
Go home and work a little more
But that’s ok
Cause I like my job
Get up in the morning have a cup of coffee
Argue with the kids,
Throw on some clothes walk out the door
Hit that traffic walk in late
Now the boss is mad
It’s like ground hog day, I’ve been here before
I’ve been working to hard
I get no time off
But that’s ok
Because I like my job
I’m beat, I’m tired
Go home and work a little more
But that’s ok
Cause I like my job
Call me crazy but I was made for this
I like to figure stuff out
Yeah
Then make it go boom
Adrenaline junky I live for the rush
I love the people in my live
And the brotherhood in this room
I’ve been working to hard
I get no time off
But that’s ok
Because I like my job
I’m beat, I’m tired
Go home and work a little more
That’s ok
Cause I like my job
And tomorrow I’m gonna wake up and do it all over again
I Don’t want to be on hold
Don’t want to be on hold
I’ve been working to hard
I get no time off
Yeah that’s ok
Because I like my job
I’m beat, I’m tired
Go home and work a little more
That’s ok
Cause I like my job
Yeah that’s ok
Cause I like my job

Invincible

INVINCIBLE
Charlie Hodge / Ashley Hodge / Darden Smith
Invincible, Invincible
I was Invincible, back then
Have you ever been on top of the world
Like some Superman
Then to fall, to lose it all
Than you know where I am
I want to break out of this prison
My self doubt and fear
What I can’t see isn’t coming for me
And there is no danger here
Invincible, invincible
I was invincible, back then
Invincible, invincible
I want to be invincible again
I want to crawl out from under superstition
That I’m living on borrowed time
One through eight, It’s not too late
To live life number nine
Invincible, invincible
I was invincible, back then
Invincible, invincible
I was invincible, I want to be invincible again
I want to be invincible again, again
Invincible again

One More

ONE MORE
Brian Oberley / Kaitlyn Oberley / James House
Baby you knew who I was when we first met
That’s why you took so long to say yes
But I knew you were the one for me
It wasn’t long before I was deployed
And I Found myself at war
Torn between you and where I needed to be
As I’m leaving
She makes me promise
She knows that I can’t keep
As I’m walking out the door
She knows there’s always be one more
One more
One more
I asked her to marry me three times
She finally said yes over a bottle of wine
I swore I’d never break her heart
Wasn’t too long before I had to leave
Red, white and blue came calling for me
That one tore us apart
You know as I’m leaving
She makes me promise
She knows that I can’t keep
As I’m walking out the door
She knows there’s always be one more
One more
One more
One more tear
One more fear
One more night that ’m not there
One more moment
One more day
One more chance for you to walk away
Oh yeah
You know as I’m leaving
She makes me promise
She knows that I can’t keep
As I’m walking out the door
She knows there’s always be one more
One more
One more
Yeah
One more
One more

Pick'n Up The Pieces

PICK’N UP THE PIECES
Buck Rogers / Wendy Rogers / James House
It started with a wink on date.com
Falling in love didn’t take long
Two hearts shattered, scattered and torn
When I found you my soul was re-born
Hand in hand, you and I
Together we’re reaching for the sky
Pick’n up the pieces hot and cold
Say a little prayer every time we go
Some are light and some weigh a ton
Pick’n up the pieces one by one
Widowed man single mom
You had faith I had none
Like a Jigsaw puzzle strewn about
Came together now there’s no doubt
Hand in hand you and I
Together we’re reaching for the sky
Pick’n up the pieces hot and cold
Say a little prayer every time we go
Some are light some weigh a ton
Pick’n up the pieces one by one
Hand in hand, you and I
Together we’re reaching for the sky
Pick’n up the pieces hot and cold
Say a little prayer every time we go
Some are light and some weigh a ton
Pick’n up the pieces one by one
Pick’n up the pieces hot and cold
Say a little prayer every time we go
Some are light and some weigh a ton
Pick’n up the pieces one by one
Pick’n up the pieces one by one
Pick’n up the pieces one by one

Strong

STRONG
Tanos Chavez / Angie Chavez / Darden Smith
I’ve been holding on far too long
It’s time to let go now, time to move on
There’s a good man down inside of me
I’m more than just that ex-Marine
I want to show you
I want to show you
Show you strong, show you life
You deserve, man and wife
Show you peace, the tender touch
We both need so much
If it takes a whole life long
Strong
I was so good at being tough over there
But here in this house I’m so scared
I was trained to be angry, trained to be hard
I need your help learning how to let down my guard
I want to know you
I want to show you
Show you strong show you kind
Laughing talking peace of mind
Show you who I really am
I can be that better man
Right all these wrongs
Strong
Strong
Oh strong
Strong
I can carry the world on my shoulders
But right now alI need
Your compassion your forgiveness
And to know your here with me
To show me strong, lead the way
Through the storm to better days
When I’m down on my knees
In your eyes I can see
Right where I belong
Make it last a whole life long
Strong
Strong
You’re so strong
I’m so strong
We could be so strong
